1. He played an entire regular season when he was 33 years old

With all the talk about load management in the NBA, LeBron James did what was seemingly impossible in the 2017-2018 season. Then 33 years old and in his 15th season, James played in all 82 of Cleveland’s regular season games. And it wasn’t like he was coasting - he averaged 36.9 minutes per game and also netted career highs in per game assists (9.1) and rebounds (8.6).

2. He’s a playoffs mainstay

LeBron’s team has appeared in the playoffs from 2005 - 2018. That’s 13 straight playoffs for King James for a total of 239 post-season games played. To put that in context, James has played more playoffs games than Kristaps Porzingis, Joel Embiid, and Ben Simmons have ever played in their entire careers.

3. He should surpass Kobe in the all-time scoring list this upcoming season

King James has already vaulted over Michael Jordan and is now poised to take the #3 spot in the NBA career points leaders list from Kobe Bryant next season. As it stands, LeBron is only behind Kobe by 1,100 points. LeBron’s lowest regular season point total stands at 1,505. So barring any significant injury to James next year, Kobe’s out of the top 3. And should James play 4 more seasons, he might have a chance to take Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s throne as the all-time points leader.

4. He is the sole member of a very exclusive statistical club

Many have faulted LeBron James for not achieving some of the feats that other greats like Michael Jordan have achieved. But there is one thing that only LeBron has achieved in the entire history of the league. He is the only player to ever have career totals of 30,000 points, 8,000 rebounds, and 8,000 assists. That’s a testament to his dominant all-around play that has lasted for 16 seasons and counting.

5. He’s one of the last players standing from his draft class

The 2003 NBA Draft was top heavy with superstars Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade all going in the top 5. But of that draft class, only two remain active in the NBA: LeBron James and Kyle Korver. James will be plying his wares in LA with Anthony Davis next season while Korver will be supporting Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee.
