Iloilo drew big games from four players, including an inspired showing from Eric Rodriguez, as the United Royals got back on the winning track following an 83-73 victory over the Bulacan Kuyas. The JJ Javelosa-owned franchise record is now 5-4, which means they've moved up in their division and are now tied for fifth to sixth places with the Zamboanga-Family’s Brand Sardines.

The Stars of Manila ran through the Binan City Heroes, 106-93, for their sixth consecutive win. The Frontrow-backed squad improved their win-loss record to 8-1. The tenacious Manila team has solidified its hold of the second spot in the tough northern division of this tournament put up by Senator Manny Pacquiao with PBA legend and former MVP Kenneth Duremdes serving as commissioner.

Chris Bitoon, the spitfire guard, knocked in 22 points on top of 11 assists. His contributions paved the way for the Stars, who shot 42-percent from the field (38-of-90) compared to only 34-percent (31-of-90) for the Heroes. Also coming away with a double-double performance was Gabby Espinas, who had 11 points and 11 boards.


Pampanga held off a late rally by Mindoro last Wednesday night. Pampanga squandered a 26-point lead, but managed to survive the final onslaught by Mindoro before preserving an 85-78 triumph.
