To be honest, we almost forgot the latest UAAP season just kicked off because we were busy watching Gilas get smashed participate in the FIBA World Cup. We just got a quality reminder though, when this wild dunk by University of the Philippines' Ricci Rivero started popping up all over social media:
That happened way early in the game, but the Fighting Maroon's did go on to defeat FEU 61-55. The other thing though, was we couldn't help but notice UP's amazingly short shorts. These came out of nowhere. Ricci Rivero's last, pre-season hype post had him in normal shorts after all:
But then the official merch shots do have them in suspiciously cropped bottoms:
Purists might be horrified by the fit, but we're cool with it. Whether you think it's a retro move or a modern lack of bagginess, there's something to love for everyone. Especially the ladies. Let's see if the look sticks all season!
