1. Persona 4 Golden

Originally released in 2008 for the Playstation 2, Persona 4 was reworked and expanded to Persona 4 Golden and was released for the Vita in 2011. During the week of Persona 4 Golden's launch, there was a reported spike in PS Vita sales, and for good reason. This game remains to be one of the best JRPGs (and game soundtracks) we've experienced on any console ever.

2. Gravity Rush

Directed by Keiichiro Toyama (yes, the Keiichiro Toyama of Silent Hill fame), Gravity Rush is an action-adventure game released for the Vita in 2012. Originally slated for release on the PS3, the game features an interesting mechanic of controlling gravity to navigate the game world and also as a main combat strategy.

3. Uncharted: Golden Abyss

Uncharted and Playstation gaming have gone hand in hand since the original game was released for the PS3. Fortunately for Vita owners, the handheld device was not left out of the equation, receiving Uncharted: Golden Abyss in 2012. While Golden Abyss's use of the Vita's touch and motion controls was nothing more than a gimmick, it still remains a game worthy of the Uncharted franchise tag.

4. Severed

While it plays more like a mobile game (which it also is) with its screen-swiping combat mechanic (think Fruit Ninja), Severed was an absolute gem for the Vita system. It featured the story of Sasha, a one-armed woman on a quest to save her family. Severed was probably the last good game released for the Vita. Fortunately for those who missed it on that system, it is now available on the Nintendo Switch.

5.  Guacamelee

Before DrinkBox Studios created Severed, they released a lucha libre-inspired action platforming game for the Vita called Guacamelee! The game plays out in Metroid/Castlevania fashion while being original enough to stand on its own. Guacamelee! was fun to look at and very enjoyable to play. The only flaw of this game was that it was too short.
