We could be faced with an economic meltdown or a political crisis right now but it won’t matter if we are confronted with a much more serious issue shocking the very core of our lives, like…

Yes, this. The three-way love disaster that has been gripping the nation these past few weeks.

It began as indirect shots until Julia decided to escalate the matter on a recent Instagram post, naming Bea and thus officially embroiling her in the controversy:

You know it has become a national issue when no less than a Supreme Court Justice pens a terse opinion on the matter on Twitter. Justice Marvic Leonen asks a simple fundamental, philosophical question worthy of engraving in the walls of the Philippine Supreme Court:

“Is he really worth it?”

That just hits at the essence of life, doesn't it? No national issue of late has ever had us re-examining our souls this deeply.

But moving beyond this, we also wondered how lawyers would, in fact, argue this Julia-Gerald-Bea brouhaha if it does escalate into a legal battle and, God forbid, if the Supreme Court itself had to resolve the issue.

We learned that Bea might be able to go legal if things turn out really ugly. “Unjust vexation—Bea v. Julia; libel—Bea v. Julia," says our lawyer.

"Kasi Julia made the mistake of naming Bea in her recent IG post. Never naman ni-name ni Bea si Julia sa interviews or IG posts. Although may point na ang pag-like ni Bea ay naging catalyst for the people to drag Julia, sabi nga ng SC sa Disini v. Sec of Justice: 'Except for the original author of the assailed statement, the rest (those who pressed Like, Comment, and Share) are essentially knee-jerk sentiments of readers who may think little or haphazardly of their response to the original posting.' Though I feel like it'll just be dismissed kasi ang petty lang, ha ha!"

She also added the chances of Alonzo v. Barretto turning into a landmark case is pretty low. "SC wouldn't be involved. Hindi siya of transcendental importance, my God!," says our lawyer.

We hope everything gets settled in a peaceful manner despite all this being one hell of an emotional ride for all of us tsismosos.
