LET’S RECALL MAINE MENDOZA’S ALDUB MOMENTS AS SHE CELEBRATES SIX YEARS IN SHOWBIZ!

It was a classic example of a Pinoy pop culture phenomenon brewing right before our eyes, Maine Mendoza and her Yaya Dub character that spawned the whole Aldub national obsession six years ago. To recall: Maine was merely a bored just-graduated-from-college girl who took to then popular platform Dubsmash to while away time. Her videos went viral and in came Eat Bulaga, who noticed and thought they could probably cash in on her popularity and by extension tap into a younger audience by getting her on the noontime show. Yaya Dub came as a result, which in the beginning was merely a crutch to Wally Bayola’s Lola character in their ever-evolving “All For Juan, One For All Segment.” And then came Maine’s giddy glance at Alden Richards one fine day…and the rest is history.
