On May 23, 2019, a young woman by the name of Yuka Takaoka allegedly stabbed a male acquaintance in the abdomen multiple times at her residence in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. News about stabbings aren't anything new, except for the fact that she was recorded saying something along the lines of “Since I loved him so much, I just couldn’t help it. After killing [him], I, too, wanted to die." What's even creepier was she was seen smiling in the police car by people at the crime scene.

Now, you'd expect people to condemn this sort of behavior as mentally unstable and very, very wrong BUT because the Internet is a f*cking weird place, people have actually started to fetishize and even glorify her actions saying that she's a "real life yandere" that has come to fulfill all their crazed waifu fantasies.

For those of you who aren't into Japanese culture or anime, yandere is a character trope (mostly associated with cute girls). Yourdictionary.com defines the term as "a portmanteau of two Japanese words yanderu (病んでる), meaning to be sick, and deredere (デレデレ), which is defined as strongly and deeply exhausted, infatuated, moonstruck, head-over-heels, or lovestruck, but in this case used for 'lovestruck.'" Basically it describes a person that loves another person so much that he/she is willing to hurt other people (or even the other person) to ensure the survival of their love/relationship.

While this sort of personality trait is certainly quite interesting when used in fiction, to be happy that this exists in real life is insane. Like, Daenerys' dragons are really cool and all but we'd be sh*tting ourselves if they were real.

Even though this is the Internet, and people do tend to meme around and not be completely serious when commenting behind their Internet personas, we were still pretty disturbed with the comments we read. Here are a few that made us think just WTF is wrong with the world?

At least there were some people who were still thinking rationally.

So would you guys be crazy enough to date her?
