How is it like to live in Los Angeles?

Living in Los Angeles is great! It’s my second home here because my family is here as well. I mean, what’s not to like? The weather here is great all year round. The sunsets, beaches, and mountains are beautiful. Also there's always a lot of movies and music that are made here. Oh and the culture is tremendous! There are all sorts of walks of life which makes living here really interesting and fun.

Have you lived in LA your entire life?

I was born here in LA, but when I was 9 years old I moved to Philippines and finished school there. I just moved back here recently in 2015, so half of my life I lived in the Philippines and the other half is in LA.

What’s the best part of LA?

The best part of LA is the weather! You just cannot beat LA weather; it’s sunny all year round! Also LA is very culturally diverse; it is truly a melting pot. So if you love food, LA is the place to be.

Would you have any suggestions of places to go to and things to eat?

I have a lot! You can visit Hollywood specifically the Walk of Fame and Rodeo Drive. You can even hike the actual Hollywood sign at the Griffith Observatory. You also have to try Pink's hot dogs! If you're into beaches, you'll love Santa Monica, Malibu, and the other beaches here. For Korean BBQ lovers, you guys can head on over to K-Town. Oh and you also have to try the butterbeer at Universal Studios!

How can you tell if a person is from LA?

They say “dude” all the time and they talk kind of slow since they’re surfer dudes.  Oh and they also say “that’s crazy” a lot!

Are there a lot of Filipinos in LA? Do you have a lot of Filipino friends there?

Yes, there are a lot of Filipinos in LA. Aside from career opportunities the place provides, I think Filipinos love living here for the same reasons I love it. Not just Filipinos, but people from all over the world come to live here. And yes, Filipinos like to stick together.

What do you think are the difference between Filipinos who live in LA compared to the ones here in the Philippines?

I think Filipinos in LA are more open-minded and independent thinkers. They’re also more influenced by western culture--I mean they're still very much Filipino in how they act but they aren't stuck in the old Filipino ways.

What are parts of LA that you wish you could bring to the Philippines?

Open-mindedness of people. Also, people minding their own business.
