In case you didn’t know, VMX means VIVAMAX. We go all out in featuring the sexiest, most gorgeous women and all the other cool things that make up the guy universe. That is why we totally get it when Cindy Miranda says there is no middle ground for her, she goes all out in everything she does: if she like something she goes for it all the way; and if she hates it you’ll never convince her to think otherwise. She is pure intensity, and this is what she says she delivered in full force in the movie Adan.
We hear you were into a lot of sports before you became a beauty queen.
In high school I used to be a varsity volleyball player. I also competed in badminton and table tennis. But when I got to college, in UST, my dad wouldn’t let me joint the varsity teams anymore be, kasi syempre you would have training every day di ba, so I just focused on academics. I still keep active, though. I run regularly. I do boxing and also do Muay Thai, not only because I wan to but because I will be doing an action film soon. Hindi nagamit lahat ng natutunan ko when I did Maria. This time I hope to do so.
Which contact sport do you like best?
I like boxing, but with a combination of Muay Thai. I like the intensity of it. That’s how I am—there is no middle ground for me, I always go all out. When I’m low I’m really low, but when I feel intense, it’s really intense.
How does this no-middle-ground mentality help you in the things that you do?
I think I was just born this way. Kapag gusto ko, bigay-todo talaga lahat ; pag ayoko, ayoko talaga. So expect that when I like a certain thing, I would give my all for it. It helps in my acting, especially because I like roles na kakaiba, like what I did in Adan. But on TV, I still do the pa-cute, pa-ganda roles and I enjoy it, it’s just that I get more satisfaction playing roles that require you to go all out. The way I see it, it’s only in those roles that I am able to release emotions that you normally would not show to the public, that’s why I really like out-of-the-box roles that I sa far from what I am in real life.
So are there sides of your personality you keep secret?
In Adan, I play a lesbian. Before I joined Bb. Pilipinas, my classmates used to call me “barako”—kasi nga matangkad ako, hindi ako pa-girl, hindi ako nag-aayos, my friends were boys. Right now, I’m still friend with boys but they’re almost all gay. Still. So in Adan I am attracted to women and they said I was a natural at it. I don’t know, maybe being boyish before I became a beauty queen helped.
Lastly, we hear you’re a dog lover?
I have two mini schnauzers. I treat them as persons. I even confide in my dogs! Kinakausap ko sila, iniiyakan ko sila, and Tamara, the older schnauzer, would wipe away my tears. I keep me sane. You know what, I’m single right now pero sila lang sapat na, I don’t need to be in a relationship anymore ha ha ha!
